Have you met our dogs yet?

We have three; a Lab named Tucker, a MiniaturePoodle named Bella, and a Toy Poodle named Louie. We didn’t set out to have three dogs, they somehow adopted our family – one puppy at a time – and they certainly do make us happy.

My three older kids joke that when each child leaves, my husband and I get a new dog. This certainly wasn’t our intention, it just seemed to work out this way.

My dogs follow me all over the house. They sit at my feet when I’m working on the computer, they keep my kitchen clean when I’m testing out new recipes and they seem to know when 6 PM rolls around because they wait anxiously by the back door for my husband to come home.

Tucker, our Lab, is the baby. He totally thinks he’s human and can’t seem to give us enough love. He’s just a big sweetheart.

Bella, our white poodle, is affectionately known as our “cat”. I often feel like we are just taking up space in “her” house. She loves us by letting us live here. She’s “my” dog and the one we’ve had the longest and she really is sweet as can be.

Finally we have Louie. Oh, Louie. What can I say, he.is.a.handful.

If there is a such thing as “small-dog syndrome”, Louie has got it.

It’s funny how each of their personalities are so different.

Because I love these guys, and because they are a big part of our family, I wanted to make them their own special treats and these homemade dog treats sure are special.

I love that these treats are made from real ingredients, nothing artificial added.

  • Flatten the dough with a floured rolling pin to about 1/2-inch thickness.

  • Cut with cookie cutters or cut into slices and place on parchment lined baking sheet.

  • Bake for 15 minutes.

  • Remove from oven and allow to cool before giving to your dog.
