Variations Ideas:
- Change Meat – Feel free to make this chili with ground turkey if you prefer. You can even do a combination of ground beef and ground turkey.
- Beans – You can easily use different types of beans or add in more beans. We recommend white bean, red kidney beans or pinto beans.
- Spices – We like adding in our own spices but you can also make Homemade Chili Seasoning or use a packet chili seasoning.
Step by Step Ingredients:
This recipe is so simple and anyone can make it!
- Step 1 – First, just brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain the meat after cooking to remove excess grease.
- Step 2 – Put the browned ground beef in the slow cooker.
- Step 3 – Add in all the remaining ingredients to the slow cooker in the chipotles in adobo.
- Step 4 – I like to cook this on low for several hours but you can certainly cook this on high if you prefer.
- Step 5 – Stir to combine before serving and enjoy.
Recipe Tips:
- Brown Ground Beef – We recommend browning the ground beef before adding to the slow cooker. If you have a Instant Pot Aura you can brown you beef right in the slow cooker.
- Make Ahead – Chili is great to make ahead of time as we think it is even better the next day. One way we prepare to make this chili is by chopping the onions ahead of time to save time.
- Combining Ingredients – All the ingredients cooks easily in the slow cooker. Just toss everything in the crockpot and heat. Stir throughout the cooking time for best results.
Chili Topping Ideas:
The chili is amazing alone but we love a good topping bar around here. We like to load our chili with all sorts of yummy toppings and the kids enjoy it too.

- Sour Cream
- Avocado
- Green Onion
- Hot Sauce
- Fresh Lime
